Alexa Introduces Sharing Widget For Facebook And Twitter Users

I am not a huge fan of Alexa traffic statistics. For the smaller sites Alexa’s statistics are completely irrelevant. For the last few months I have been helping a friend of mine with their website – TheChocolateBelles.com. Alexa is showing that site to have less traffic than Go-Beyond-MLS.com. The reality however is that The Chocolate Belles receives 20 times of traffic comparing to the traffic to this blog.

One of the way to improve their relevancy is to get more people to use their toolbar. So the move to allow Facebook and Twitter users to share their statistics with their friends and followers maybe in the right direction. After all Twitter and Facebook are among the most popular websites today:
Alexa Introduces Facebook And Twitter Sharing Options

Alexa recently re-introduced site reviews has not attracted needed attention and have indeed become a place for shameless astroturfing for some but mostly a place for the irrelevant rant and plain spam for others.

Introduction if the new sharing widget will definitely spark a lot of attention and traffic. But will Alexa statistics be anymore relevant? Time will show.

  1. Wow is Alexa really not that accurate? I’ve been using the Alexa toolbar to gather some details for some of my projects before and recommends it to some friends too and I thought its really helpful.
