RealDiggity.com has a hard act to follow. Made to look and feel like Digg.com, RealDiggity is aimed at helping to promote stories related to real estate.
The website is being developed using an open source content management system called Drupal, with the help of Drigg– a Digg clone module for Drupal. I personally would prefer Pligg if I was developing the website.
The success of the website however will not be in the software used to create it. It will largely depend on whether or not internet users will find it useful.
I personally would love to see more “social” components on the website such as ability to connect friends (adding friends)- my main reason why I would have opted for Pligg instead of Drupal.
Nice, I wish it used Pligg too. Who runs it?
Steve, I am not quiet sure who runs it. I saw a shore presentation about it via Ustream… I wish I wrote the guys name down, but I was in the rush that day and hoped I will find more about the website itself later…. It would be good idea to come up with some sort of "About" page.
Hey Vlad. This is Tony Arko, the agent that developed the site and gave the presentation at REBarcamp VA. I appreciated your critique of the site and I will look into getting the functions you recommended built into realdiggity. I am a full time real estate agent and this site is my side gig so I am putting it together slowly. It is still very much in a beta phase but the social networking features are definitely an area we need to add. Thanks again for your analysis. Please feel free to contact me directly at any time with feedback, good or bad.
Tony, Thanks for stopping by. I was watching you doing a presentation about the site, but was a little in a rush to write down your name. So thanks for stopping by.
I registered with the Realdiggity when you where doing the presentation. Not sure if you have considered Pligg or not, many of the functions are already build into Pligg. If I am not mistaken Pligg was the piece of software that gave start to Digg, but do not quote me on this.
At the end of the day it really does not matter what software to use. Now you need some serious links and a little traffic to get it going.
I did not realize you were an agent. This can probably help you to promote the site.
Feel free to tap me on the shoulder when you introduce the new features, I would love to feature your site on my blog again.
Good luck!
