RSSPieces: Will Their Pieces Stick Together Without Mary McKnight

Trying to bring myself up to speed with things around real estate blogosphere I have came across across the RSSPieces announcement that Mary McNight, the founder and (now former) Chief Marketing Officer of RSSPieces “is no longer part of the day to day operations of RSS Pieces”.

During last week I have e-mailed Mary once or twice and never received a reply. Very unusual of her, since in the past Mary would respond to my e-mails rather promptly- at times within minutes.

On her Active Rain blog Mary wrote briefly that her relationship with RSSPieces went south. Evidently many of the Mary’s social medial accounts where hijacked, but she is on they way to recover them.

So will the pieces at RSSPieces stick together now that Mary is gone? From the comments on RSSPieces appears that they might already be falling apart.

I personally never was Mary’s client and our paths would not have crossed if I was not interested in Internet Marketing and Blogging. Needless to say Mary has my respect and support. Mary had build a strong and respectable profile for RSSPieces. She is well known and respected in various circles of this wonderful new media we call blogging. It is hard to know what really happened and what Mary is planing for the future. Real Estate Radio USA is interviewing Mary today, so I am looking forward to that interview.

I am certain though that Mary will have no problem to be successful no matter which direction she decides to take. RSSPieces on the other hand will have to struggle and really step up a bit, especially now that many of the clients are disappointed and confused.

  • I listened to Mary's interview on Real Estate Radio and read her AR blog and it's just a damn shame that people can't play nice in the sand box. I don't know Mary personally, but solely based on the interview and her blog (since RSS Pieces has declined to say anything publicly), it looks like she really got the short end of the stick. I'm not privy to the motivations of RSS Pieces or why their relationship with Mary went so sour, but I will say that hijacking all her social media accounts (AR, Twitter, etc) was a bit over the top. It's good to see she has her AR blog back, but this Daniel Potvin still seems to have her Twitter account held hostage. I don't know if it was his own decision to do this or if he was prompted to do it by his superiors but any way you slice it, it's pretty contemptible. I hate to draw parallels, but RSS Pieces may just qualify for the "ePerks Employer of the Year" award. Maybe Ben and Tom should have lunch and compare notes; they appear to be cut from the same strip of cloth. I seriously doubt we'll ever hear PSS Pieces side of things, even though Real Estate Radio invited them on their show; in cases like this, the company often takes the position of "we do not publicly comment on things which are obviously internal personnel issues". A sad aside to all this is the anonymous person who posted to Mary's AR blog as "Not Stupid" and then proceeded to trash her to no end. They may not be Stupid, but Cowardly? Most certainly.
  • Hi Wayne,

I think what is ironic in this case is that Mary started RSSPieces... I don't want to draw any parallels either but Steve Jobs was fired by Apple at one point....

Hijacking her accounts is simply unprofessional and may even be illegal. If there was some sort of tension in the company there are more civilized ways to solve problems... but that only can be accomplished by civilized people.
  • Just read the comment by "Not Stupid" over at Active Rain. What a jerk!
  • You mean eJerk!! What's strange is, I can no longer access that blog post. Every time I try I'm told I can't view this post. Maybe I've been blacklisted or something, but I can see her other posts. Maybe she made it members only, but I thought I WAS a member!! I emailed her to see if she responds.
  • Wayne,

It is not only you. I can't access that post either. Even when I am logged into my AR account. I think the post was taken down. The "Not Stupid" jerk crossed the line and I would not be surprised if Mary took the post down. I would probably just delete the offensive comments. These cowards don't deserve the chance to post comments.

I wonder if there is a way to have your posts only accessible to AR members?
  • I thought you could limit access to posts to only AR members by making it a Members Only post?? I can't access it no matter if I'm logged into AR or not. I would not have removed the post (especially since I posted a particularly good comment just before it disappeared!), I would have left it up and defended myself. But, to each his/her own. It was getting a bit testy in there! I hope everything works out for her.
  • I heard from Mary...she did take the post down due to the comments getting a little out of hand. Mystery solved!
  • I don't blame her.... I will need to adjust my link though, I will
just link to her blog (main page) on Active Rain.
  • Just noticed that RSSPieces took down their announcement as well. Does it mean they are trying to make peace with Mary?... Oh well, now I have two dead links in this post.
  • Who knows? Maybe they just want to break from her completely. I doubt it has anything to do with making peace, though. But then again, like I said, who knows?
  • Wow. Mary is RSSpieces. I know the site will suffer (sorry guys but it's true) without Mary's input. Strange about the AR post...but just an FYI on that subject, Mary has had trouble with another AR member in the past. It was so bad that she left the community for quite a while. Perhaps it's the same person again. I'm very curious to hear what Mary has to say on the matter.
  • Charles,

Thanks for stopping by. I am not surprised at all that AR post was taken down. The comments by one individual there got really nasty. I would not be surprised it was the same person Mary had problems in the past.

I just think it is so unfortunate that any of us should waste our energy on trolls like that.

Hey, this is Alex from Arizona. You know, last year I also had a website and I was also interested in getting sales and increasing my website revenue, this is kind of off the subject, but I just came across a company called Hot Search Marketing on a different blog: http://rateyourinternetmarketing.blogspot.com.

Have you heard about them? They're supposed to offer free seo and ppc management services and only charge for leads. I think this is awesome, and if it's true, I think you should check out their site at: http://www.hothelpsyousell.com.

Anyway, keep up the good writing and if you do try them out, shoot me an email or just write a post review about them.

I'll be coming back to your blog

    Cheers!
  • Kind of late to the party here. Been very busy trying to keep up with things. The facts are that Tom Balletta and company have no valid agreement with John or I and we are now seeking legal action. They failed to issue me shares int he company as part of the agreement we originally came to, so they are NOT my partners and they DO NOT own Rss Pieces. These criminals have also recently been tracked to the hijacking of 30+ domains (including clients), a Denial of Service attempt on our servers where our clients reside, thieving of code, slanderous comments, failing to pay vendors (their IDX partner has been unpaid since Dec - which is what precipitated the fall out - I called them on their vendor payments) and even credit card fraud to one clients AMEX to the tune of $6000. The comments by Not Stupid and Not n the Cult have been tracked via ip to Andrea Sacca and Brian Buckett.
  • Mary,

Never too late to the party..... By the way if they do not end up in a prison one day I know one company that may just hire them :).

Nice to see you around again. Good luck.
