Question: I live in a rent stabilized apartment. Each year, my previous landlord had his bank send me a check on the interest on my security deposit and a written statement on the total amount of my security. Is this required by law? Several years ago, my current landlord in response to my sending a written question sent me only the name of the bank where the security is kept. I have heard nothing since.
