Yes, however malformed comments may cause a failure in the import.
This is often due to spam comments.

Dan I ma not sure how useful this is but I have noticed a few things. With this new upgrade you in effect are “forcing” users to have Disqus on ALL posts. No more “zero comments and all feature posts”, which is fine by me. However if some one is currently using Askimet or Spam Karma plugin it would be a good advise to completely and permanently delete their spam queue. I was close to load the Discus database with over 4000 porn sites. The queue from Akisment and Spam Karma where holding that much spam. Thank goodness your plugin chocked on me. I think because of the number of comments. Which also brings me to another point. What is a person tries to import 4000 real comments. Will they be able to do so?

No, you should use the API plugin, 2.0.1.

Daniel,

I did not realize that there was a new plugin released. However when I navigated to upgrade (via the link you sent me on twitter), there is only one plugin. I am currently using the API plugin. Did you decide to go only with Java plugin? If so I will most likely reverse to my old way of moderating the comments here.
